How can Public Affairs help you?

  • Published

There may come a time in a service member’s career where they will need to access services offered by the 55th Wing Public Affairs command information section and they may not even know it.

From having a photo taken whether it is for a promotion package, passport or award package to sharing their story and having it featured on the base website, newspaper or even social media – command information has it covered.

Their offices are located in Building 88, Room 202, along the historic parade grounds and right before the MPS.

“Customers can give me a call to schedule appointments,” said Leticia Cunningham, 55th Wing Public Affairs customer service coordinator. “I can help with official studio photography, on-location photography, video support, graphics support and more.”

All service members are encouraged to call and schedule an appointment for an official photo to be archived in the 55th WG PA files. Also available passport and Isolated Personnel Report photos.

“When we send photographers out for promotions and events like the air show or birthday ball, we archive the photos and also place them on Flickr so family members and friends can share in the memories,” Cunningham said.

But photos aren’t the command information sections only forte.

When it comes to informing Team Offutt and their families of important information, they write articles for Offutt’s official website and base paper, manage social media platforms, and produce a mobile-friendly weekly newsletter called the Air Pulse Flier.

“Offutt currently has Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Instagram and YouTube accounts,’ said Tech. Sgt. Rachelle Blake, 55th WG PA Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge. “To top it all off, we recently submitted an Offutt geofilter for Snapchat. We communicate using all those platforms as well as the MyMC2 smartphone App.”

The My Military Communities 2, or MyMC2 App, can be downloaded on any smart device. Its main feature is an events calendar which feeds from the social media sites of numerous professional organizations, the 55th Force Support Squadron and more.

“There are other organizations on Offutt who have social media accounts, but the ones listed above are part of the 55th WG commander’s efforts to get information out to those who need it,” she added.

Some of the most important information can be found during inclement weather situations and base closings.

One final capability of the PA command information section is video. Some of their responsibilities include putting together video stories about events happening on base and documenting training for organizations with shift workers.

Any member of Team Offutt can take advantage of command information’s services by calling (402) 294-3744.
