The Law Center provides professional legal support and advice to command and other staff agencies on a variety of issues including military justice, contracts, labor, environmental and operations law. We also provide legal advice and assistance on personal and civil matters to military members, retirees and their family members.
The Offutt AFB Law Center is supported by military attorneys, paralegals and civilians. Using this Web site is not a substitute for consulting with an attorney about a specific legal problem you may have.
The Offutt AFB Law Center provides legal services to all active duty personnel, military dependents, retirees, members of the Guard and Reserve on active duty orders.

Limitations on Legal Assistance
Legal Assistance JAGs cannot represent you in court or in administrative proceedings. We cannot provide assistance in the following areas: Issues involving personal commercial enterprises; Law of Armed Conflict issues; Official matters in which the U.S. Air Force has an interest or is involved in the final outcome; criminal matters; or questions regarding the USAF Standards of Conduct.

PCS Related Household Goods Claims
The DD Form 1840 / 1840R (pink form) must be submitted to the carrier within 70 days after delivery of a household goods shipment. This process can now be done online at https://claims.jag.af.mil. The online process only applies to Air Force sponsored moves. Members unable to file online may bring their pink forms to the claims office M - Th / 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Questions regarding the new process may be addressed to the Air Force Claims Service Center at 1-877-754-1212 (24 / 7 customer service line).

The Operations Law Division generally refers to legal rules applicable in actual military operations. It is normally defined as that body of domestic, foreign and international law that impacts the activities of U. S. Armed Forces in war and operations other than war.
Commanders must ensure their personnel are trained to comply with the Law of Armed Conflict (LOAC). All military personnel must accomplish this training every 20 months.

Tax season 2021 is quickly approaching and there are many changes to the Offutt AFB Tax Program due to COVID restrictions.
We will not be doing in person tax preparation this season until further notice. With that in mind, we have come up with a solution that will allow us to continue to assist the Offutt AFB community beginning 25 January.
To receive tax assistance you must be Active Duty (All enlisted ranks, O3 and below), Deployers, Surviving Spouses, Retired 65 and older, Disabled 50% or greater and income $80,000 or less, and their dependent(s). Reservists and National Guard members (in above ranks/age) and their dependents only qualify when on Title10/Title 32 orders or retired 65 and older with a BLUE ID card. IDs valid for medical insurance only are not eligible. No businesses or Sch K-1 Forms 1065 or 1120S.
