Operational readiness inspections, or ORIs, evaluate and measure a unit's ability to perform wartime, contingency or peacetime force sustainment. Inspections require the capabilities and limitations of our people, equipment and procedures be tested, practiced and exercised in order to defend our country and American way of life.

Being ORI ready requires us to be physically fit and professionally competent in our given areas of expertise. It also requires us to be "spiritually fit." Military and civilian personnel are well rounded when they are at peace within their own hearts and minds -- therefore, Airmen must be spiritually fit to be fully ready.

The chaplain corps ensures spiritual fitness by providing spiritual care, religious observation and ethical advice to leadership. As we prepare for the ORI, chaplains (with the support of chaplain assistants) will provide confidential counseling, visit units to monitor morale and provide avenues to accommodate a plethora of religious needs. These same efforts are duplicated in the deployed setting as well.

Offutt's chaplains provide direct spiritual care for all personnel, anytime, anywhere. We are available 24/7 to support you and your family members. If you need a chaplain after duty-hours, you can contact the duty chaplain through the command post at 294-3725. Here's to your ORI "Outstanding" spiritual health!
