Ticket Hut offers cool summer travel savings Published May 21, 2007 By Debbie Aragon 55th Wing Public Affairs OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- While the price of gas continues to go up, most people are looking for ways to keep other costs down during the summer months. Offutt families can keep a little extra cash in their wallets by purchasing discount tickets to attractions and events at the 55th Services Squadron Ticket Hut. "Our customers can save lots of money through our ticket programs," said Sierra Lewis, Ticket Hut sales clerk. As an example, Ms. Lewis said Worlds of Fun tickets cost $36.95 plus tax at the gate but only $29 through Ticket Hut. Located on Union Lane in Bldg. 363, across from SAC Federal Credit Union, the Ticket Hut sells discounted tickets to various events and attractions such as the College World Series and the Henry Doorly Zoo here to Worlds of Fun in Kansas City, Mo., and Walt Disney attractions from coast to coast. By using cash, a personal check, VISA or MasterCard, Offutt customers can pickup tickets to a wide variety of events. "Most tickets in the local area are usually in stock," Ms. Lewis said, "but some, such as Disney locations, have to be ordered." In this case, customers go in and pay for the tickets which are then ordered. Once ordered, tickets are normally ready for pickup a week before the event, she said. While most discounted tickets are available to all employees at Offutt, Ms. Lewis said some are limited to active-duty members and their families. The most popular tickets available here during the summer are zoo passes and entry tickets for Worlds of Fun and Oceans of Fun in Kansas City, she said. Although the Ticket Hut is open from 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; 11 a.m. - 6 p.m. Wednesdays; and 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, the sales window closes 30 minutes before the office. Ticket Hut is closed Sundays, Mondays and holidays. "People have nothing to lose by checking with us before traveling locally or around the country," Ms. Lewis said, "and typically they'll be saving themselves money that can be spent on other things."
