OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- Health Promotions is proud to announce, starting in January, they will be conducting their inaugural Four Week Weight Loss Warrior Challenge.
This program will provide education, support, accountability and challenges for individuals to lose weight. It will feature an individual as well as team component to stir the competitive spirit.
“There are reasons why people’s attempts at weight loss either fail or succeed,” said Roger Nelson, 55th Aerospace Medicine Squadron health promotion coordinator. “We will clarify those reasons in this program and set individuals up for success.”
To participate, individuals must pre-register to attend the kick-off “Eating, Exercising and Thriving” class held at Health Promotions by calling 402-294-5977. The two-hour class is being offered Jan. 3 or 4 from 2 - 4 p.m. or 6 - 8 p.m. The finale is scheduled for Jan. 31 or Feb. 1 from 3 - 4 p.m. or 6 - 7 p.m.
“Were calling it a warrior challenge because even with the right tools and strategies, it’s still a battle,” Nelson said. “Individual’s must be diligent and brave in fighting the evils that thwart most people’s efforts and learn how to heighten those attributes during this program.”
Health Promotion Dietitian, Rob DeLair, will be sharing the nine commonly shared healthy habits of long term successful weight loss participants.
“These habits don’t happen by chance, they happen by choice” DeLair stated. “They are some of the action items we will be focusing on in this program”.
Step one of the program is to attend the kick-off event held at the Health Promotions office located on the east side of the Offutt Field House. At the kick-off, participants will conduct their initial weigh-in, receive education and program materials and be assigned to a team.
Step two is to earn points during the program by completing numerous challenges.
Step three is to attend the finale for final weigh-in, point tabulation and award ceremony. Recognition for top male and female point recipient, weight loss leader and top team in both categories will be given.
