In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Commissary and Exchange here will require masks for all employees and patrons starting April 10.

Both facilities will have signs posted at their entrances. Additionally, ID checkers at the Commissary will ensure all patrons are wearing one before entering the facility.

“This flexibility and support is just another example of how we are all pulling together to protect our personnel and the installation from the spread of COVID-19,” said Col. Gavin Marks, 55th Wing commander. “I am so thankful for their support and I ask for your patience and understanding as they work to implement these important changes.”

The BX has implemented local curbside pickup and buy online, delivery programs to limit foot traffic into the facility while still providing service to their customers. They are also routinely cleaning high-traffic areas and cleaning weapons every time they are touched. Foot markers have been placed six feet apart to remind customers to maintain social distance while waiting in line to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

“Once again, please continue to follow all of the CDC protocols,” said Marks. “If you’re sick, stay at home. If you’re in a high-risk category, stay at home. Avoid close contact with sick people. Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water aren't available, use an alcohol-based sanitizer.”

In addition to self-care to prevent potentially oneself from spreading the illness, Marks reminded Team Offutt to take measures to avoid catching COVID-19.

“Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands. Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze then throw the tissue in the trash and wash your hands,” said Marks. “Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. Finally, adhere to physical distancing protocols and steer clear of gatherings.”
