Welcome to 55th Wing Public Affairs! The mission of the 55th Wing Public Affairs office is to inform and influence by providing world-class strategic communications that drive the commander’s narrative.

Command Information

Studio photography is "For Official Use Only" and by appointment only and available for official portraits as required by AFMAN/AFI35-101 as well as applications for special duty assignments, official passports, and ISOPREPS.

Members from all other branches are required to check their service specific regulations for required official photos before requesting an appointment.

  • Chain-of-command studio photography (official portraits) will be provided for leadership at the squadron-level and above (commander, deputy/vice commander, senior enlisted leader, and first sergeant), quarterly and annual award winners at the group-level and above, as well as displays for key staff from prominent support agencies (wing/installation IG, sexual assault response coordinators, area defense counsel, equal opportunity, and others not listed).
  • Exceptions to the official studio photography stipulations are permitted with proper justification. Justifications are annotations within DODI, AFI, and/or package descriptions explaining the need for an official photo.
  • All official photos will be emailed to the requestor as the primary product. Prints are available if justification is approved.

Submit a "Studio Photography" request through our customer service portal using an official .mil or .gov email address. Please include a description of proper justification (based on the above) for your request of FOUO studio photography, otherwise the request will be denied

AFMAN/AFI35-101 authorizes photo and video support for the following:

  • Mission Support: Capturing imagery that supports and documents the missions of Offutt Air Force Base and its units.
  • Training and Education: Producing visual aids for training and educational purposes that enhance mission readiness.
  • Public Affairs and Media Relations: Providing imagery to support official news releases, social media content, and other public affairs activities.
  • Historical Documentation: Archiving significant events, operations, and activities for historical purposes. (change of commands/responsibilities)
    • Change of Commands:
      • Wing/Group level: Public Affairs will provide photo and video services to capture the ceremony.
      • Squadron level: Public Affairs will only provide photo support to capture the ceremony.
    • Retirements/Promotions: Retirements and promotions are not historical events connected to the Wing; therefore, PA will support these events through the self-help program.
  • Internal Communication: Supporting internal communications, such as commander’s calls, briefings, and newsletters.

Submit a "General PA Support" request through our customer service portal. Please include all details for the event with your request (esp. date, time, and location).

In cases where support cannot be provided due to workforce shortages or prohibited uses, consumer-grade photo and video self-help equipment are available on a first-come, first-served basis. A Public Affairs representative will transfer your video and photo material to a customer-provided flash drive on return of the equipment.

The 55th Wing Public Affairs Office manages Offutt Air Force Base's electronic marquee located in front of the wing headquarters building to announce time-sensitive and recurring information to base members.

Base marquee requests must be submitted at least 7 duty days prior to your event. Customers must supply a graphic in .jpg or .png formats. We suggest designing submissions in PowerPoint as a 16x9 slide and then converting them into a .jpg or .png file. 55 WG/PA must approve all submissions.

Information used by Offutt Air Force Bae personnel in public presentations or forums must be cleared by the 55th Wing Public Affairs office prior to release of official imagery, documents, information, or proposed statements outside official government channels. Public release clearance is NOT required for material presented in closed meetings and which will not be made available to the general public (ie. on the internet, or in print/electronic media).

Community Engagement

The 55th Wing Public Affairs office is the primary contact of the installation tour program. For requests pertaining to the United States Strategic Command submit an inquiry here.

All official base tours must be approved through the 55th Wing Public Affairs office. The purpose of the tour program is to increase community leaders’ awareness and understanding of the Air Force’s role in national security.

Requirements and Limits:

  • Requests for base tours must be sent to the 55th Wing Public Affairs office no later than 60 days and no more than 6 months prior to proposed date.
  • Due to manning Public Affairs tours are limited to no more than one per week. Tours are not available Saturdays, Sundays, ACC/55th Wing Family Days or Federal Holidays 
  • Tours are limited to 10-40 attendees, who belong to an organized group (i.e. ROTC, JROTC, etc.), or the capacity of a single vehicle with a minimum number of seats equal to the number of attendees plus one open seat for the public affairs escort.
  • The minimum age of tour attendees is 12 years old.
  • Groups must provide all required Entry Authority List information no later than seven business days prior to the event
  • All tours are limited to one day with the exception of ROTC visits.
  • Please make Public Affairs aware of any tour guests who are officers in the grade of O-6 or above as well as any distinguished persons, award winners, POWs, etc., who will be accompanying your tour.
  • Please notify us if any tour guests are not U.S. citizens.
  • All tours are subject to change or cancellation based on operational requirements.
  • Modified tours may be granted to those with limited mobility; however, this must be stated on the request form. If not stated, it is assumed that walking and stair climbing is not an issue.

NOTEDefense POW/MIA Accounting Agency tours are reserved for Community leaders, unless otherwise approved by the appropriate commanders. Job shadowing is permitted for ROTC groups only, mission pending. The Offutt Exchange and Commissary are not eligible to be included under the tour program.

Official public appearances and speeches by military or civilian Air Force and Department of Defense personnel constitute an essential part of the Air Force outreach program in keeping the public informed. The 55th Wing, 557th Weather Wing, 95th Wing, and various other tenant units that make up the professionals at Offutt Air Force Base, boast an array of experts, specialists and operators who can speak on a number of Air Force and DoD missions and career fields.

The Offutt Speakers Bureau, administered by 55th Wing Public Affairs, gives you a single point of contact to search for the speaker best-suited to your audience and event. The Speakers Bureau is comprised of outstanding, professional, well-spoken military members and DoD civilians of all ranks/grades, from a variety of backgrounds, with varying levels of training, experience and expertise, and who represent the diversity of the U.S. Military.

Submit a "General PA Support" request through our customer service portal with the Speaker Request Form attached. 

  • Fill out the Speaker Request Form and submit it at least 30 days in advance, but no earlier than 90 days.
  • Include in the request form as many details as possible (ie. the scope and reach of the event, notable persons in attendance, media coverage, etc.)

The mission of Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard program is to employ, equip, and train Air Force members to provide professional military funeral honors for active duty, retired members and veterans of the U.S. Air Force.

Honors are performed in their 175-county area of responsibility spanning 100,000 square miles of Nebraska, Iowa and Kansas. The Base Honor Guard also performs time honored colors presentations at military ceremonies.

The United States Air Force Heartland of America Band is a 15-member unit that presents exciting and uplifting music to inspire patriotism and tell the Air Force story. From formal concerts in grand auditoriums to casual shows in the park, they demonstrate Air Force excellence and precision in every performance. Their mission also includes deployments where they collaborate with U.S. embassies to share America culture, build partnerships, develop relationships, and use music to motivate and unify coalition service members who are defending the region.      

As professional Airman, the United States Air Force Heartland of America Band honors our American military veterans for their selfless sacrifice at every performance, and shares the message of excellence, courage and commitment displayed every day by the brave men and women of the United States Air Force serving throughout the world.

The U.S. Air Force Heartland of America Band has a rich history of inspiring hearts and minds, building and sustaining American patriotism, and enhancing esprit de corps in the United States Air Force. It began as the 402nd Army Air Force Band on Feb. 1, 1943, at Ardmore Army Base, Okla. After assignments at Andrews Field, Md. and Selfridge Air Force Base, Mi., it was eventually assigned to Strategic Air Command at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. on Oct. 2, 1948, its home ever since. Officially inactivated on Aug. 1, 2013, it was re - designated as a named activity at Offutt and assigned to the USAF Heritage of America Band as Operating Location A.

Media Operations

The Media Operations section works to coordinate all media interviews, media queries and media access to Offutt Air Force Base.

Military members and civilian workers assigned to Offutt Air Force Base, whether permanent or deployed, who are contacted by news media should provide the media member with the email address and phone number of the Public Affairs Media Operations section.

Media interested in covering Offutt activities should contact the 55th Wing Public Affairs office, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. The office has a 24-hour on-call Public Affairs representative who can be reached by calling the 55th Wing Command Post at 402-294-3725.

Media members visiting Offutt Air Force Base must have prior approval and be escorted by a Public Affairs representative at all times.

Commander's Action Line

The Commander's Action Line is a forum for to make suggestions or voice concerns about the base directly to the 55th Wing commander. If you have a concern, please use discretion. Decide whether or not the problem can be solved by using the chain of command. If the chain of command doesn’t seem like the best route or failed to produce results, please submit an Action Line and the commander will work the issue.
