55th Intelligence Support Squadron

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - The new 55th Intelligence Support Squadron was activated during a special ceremony at the Patriot Club July 22. The griffin on the new unit's patch signifies strength, military courage and leadership. The lightning bolt represent the electronic spectrum from which the 55th Operations Group's intelligence is derived. The stars represent the five platforms supposrted by the squadron. The four white stars the Rivet Joint, Combet Sent, Open Skies and Constant Phoenix. The black and white star represents the Cobra Ball with its infamous black wing. The red and yellow colors symoblize the connection to the 55th Operations Group and the blue and black symbolize the all weather, day and night operations. U.S. Air Force Illustration
