OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. --

The Air Force recently rolled-out a free smart phone app, USAF Connect, specifically designed to make information more accessible for DoD members and their families.

Customized for each installation, it is free and can be downloaded from Google Play or the App Store.

Once the app is downloaded, the end user selects their organization. For Offutt, it is “Offutt Air Force Base.”

After entering the app, there are several Air Force-wide options, to include a CAC feature that allows a user with a CAC reader to check their work e-mail or visit other sites that might require CAC access.

To see base-specific information, select “Favorites” in the lower right hand corner and tap on “Offutt Air Force Base.” It includes information tailored to the 55th Wing as well as base tenant units.

Offutt’s interface is still under construction, but already features a variety of options.

For instance, the social media icon leads to links from the 55th Wing commander’s Facebook page to U.S. Strategic Command’s YouTube channel. You can also find the weekly Warhawk newsletter, the 55th Force Support Squadron’s On Offutt newsletter, a calendar of base events, current news articles, information about the 55th Wing and the 557th Weather Wing and much more. The Chapel option show service times and a variety of religious texts to include the Bible and Quran.

The “Offutt Air & Space Show” directs you to the show’s Facebook page, the “PA Photo Studio” leads to online scheduling for the photo studio, “OADD” makes a safe ride a click away, and “Notifications” gives leadership the ability to push notifications out for instances such as snow closures or an emergency.

Under the “Fitness” icon, there are current standards, articles and videos. In the future, it will also provide fitness standards for Army, Navy and Marine Corps service members.

Also coming in the future is a section for helping agencies like the 55th Medical Group and the Airman and Family Readiness Center. Additionally, a “Groups” icon will allow organizations on base the ability to communicate with their members and potentially their family member directly if desired.

The app is maintained by 55th Wing Public Affairs. For more information, call (402) 294-3663.
