They left no butts behind Published Dec. 30, 2013 55th Wing Public Affairs OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- Operation No Butts Left Behind, an annual base diaper drive with a funny name and a serious mission, came to a close on Dec. 6. In just one week, this group of Team Offutt volunteers collected a combined diaper and cash donation of 17,889 diapers for the Lydia House in Omaha. "This is the third year we've done this and it just continues to grow," said Steve Morris, 55th Security Forces Squadron, who is one of the drive leaders. "I can't thank everyone enough for their support of this program and couldn't be more proud." The diaper drive is a joint effort including many units from around the base, most notably the 55th Force Support Squadron and 55th SFS. Volunteers solicit donations for one week following Thanksgiving and at the conclusion the diapers are given to the Lydia House, which is an emergency shelter for single women and families. "I would like to extend a special thank you to Jim Fern of U.S. Strategic Command and the Offutt Lightning for providing a tremendous number of volunteers," said U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class Jeff Krambeer, 55th FSS, who is one of the drive leaders. "We wouldn't have been as successful without their assistance." "I'd also like to thank Mariko Johnson of AAFES for allowing us to solicit donations at the BX," Krambeer continued. "This is the third year they've allowed us to do that and it's obviously a tremendous help." The group is already planning for next year's event and hopes it will continue to grow. "We plan on coming back even bigger next year with possibilities of adding a second location for the drive," Krambeer said. "It's a great cause and we're looking forward to doing it again," Morris said. "I would like to thank everyone who donated this year as they are the ones who make it happen."
