2014 Bellevue-Offutt Runway Run Published April 30, 2014 55th Wing Public Affairs OFFUTT AIR BASE, Neb. -- Offutt Air Force Base and the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce are teaming up once again for the seventh annual seven-mile Bellevue-Offutt Runway Run May 11. The idea for this run was a collaborative effort by Team Offutt and the Bellevue Chamber in 2008 as a part of Air Force Week, and the run has continued to be a way to bring the Bellevue and Offutt community together ever since. The route for this year's run has been modified to allow runners to spend more time on the runway. The route will start at the Bellevue Lied Center, and from there, runners will run along Fort Crook Road to the Kenny Gate where they will enter the base. Once on base, they will run through parts of Offutt Air Force Base, around the Glenn L. Martin Bomber Building and to the runway where runners will run along a formation of four 55th Wing aircraft. The seven-mile run has been certified allowing avid runners to use this run in their statistics. Registration is $25 until April 30, $30 from May 1 until May 10, and $35 the day of the race. Registration forms must be mailed into the Bellevue Chamber of Commerce and can be found on the chamber's website (http://bellevuenebraska.com/event/bellevue-offutt-air-force-base-runway-run/). Even though there is an on-site registration, runners are encouraged to pre-register in order to prevent back up the morning of the race and to allow ample time for 55th Security Forces to clear runners onto base. Runners are also asked to arrive early in order to get checked in. Any runners needing to register the day of the race must arrive before 6:30 a.m. to allow for the necessary security clearance processing before the start of the race. After the race, awards for the top three male and female finishers for each age group will be awarded. There will also be an award for the fastest military formation. The race will start promptly at 7 a.m. at the Bellevue Lied Activity Center and is expected to last until 9:30 a.m. Since the run takes place on base, the Kenny Gates and some roads near Bldg. C and Bldg. D will be closed during the duration of the race. The STRATCOM Gate will be open for those who need to enter or exit base during the race.
