New web page highlights Offutt's community activities Published Sept. 10, 2014 By 55th Wing Public Affairs OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE Neb. -- The 55th Wing Public Affairs office recently teamed up with the Omaha World-Herald to create a web page that will provide an online platform for posting stories and photos of Offutt's community related activities. The web page, titled "Team Offutt in the Community," highlights stories of Offutt's Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Marines and civilians who are actively involved in the community. This might include volunteer support for programs such as Help a Hungry Hero, Brush Up Nebraska and Habitat for Humanity, or community outreach events and awards. "One of the commander's top priorities is recognizing the achievements and hard work of the men and women assigned to Offutt," said Ryan Hansen, 55th Wing Public Affairs director. "This web page is just one more way we can help tell their story." The World-Herald maintains the web page but the content is provided exclusively by members of Team Offutt. Hansen said that the World-Herald was very supportive of the idea. "We reached out to the World-Herald earlier this year and they were very receptive," Hansen said. "We certainly appreciate everything they've done to make the web page a reality." The 55th Wing PA office plans to keep the "Team Offutt in the Community" web page fresh with weekly stories and encourages all wing members and tenant organizations to share their community related stories and photos. If you are interested in submitting a story or idea, contact PA at 402-294-3663, or by email at 55WG.PA@us.af.mil . To view the web page, visit www.omaha.com/offutt. "You'd be hard pressed to find a better community relationship than the one we have here," said U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Gregory Guillot, 55th Wing commander. "The local community is very supportive of Offutt's personnel and mission, and we try hard to show we appreciate their support through community involvement. I think "Team Offutt in the Community" is a nice way to recognize those actions while showing we truly value a two-way relationship with our community."
