Starting Jan. 5, all vehicles entering Offutt's Ehrling Bergquist Clinic parking area will be required to use a single point of entry that will be located on 25th Street at the lower parking area.

The change will reduce the number of entrances from three to one, and is being made to improve security for the facility that is geographically separated from the secured area of Offutt Air Force Base.

"During a recent installation security review it was determined that additional security control measures were necessary at the clinic," said U. S. Air Force Master Sgt. Jason Parrish, 55th Security Forces Squadron, who is in charge of Offutt's installation security. "These new measures will provide better force protection for the safety of everyone at the clinic."

The single entrance will be modified to include multiple inbound lanes and vehicle operators will be required to show valid identification upon entry. All commercial vehicles will need to be searched at the main vehicle inspection station at Offutt's Visitor Control Center prior to being allowed access to the clinic. No changes are being made to the two current exits located on both Capehart Road and 25th Street.

Parrish added that overflow parking will be available at the Capehart Chapel located across the street from the clinic. Pedestrians who park at the chapel will be able to enter the secured area from the Capehart Road exit.

With the addition of multiple lanes, the lower parking area will be reduced by 88 stalls. However, Parrish said it should not affect patient parking. Base officials are also looking ahead at options to add additional parking to alleviate the reduction caused by the changes.
