55th ECG changes command Published June 8, 2015 By Staff Sgt. Rachelle Blake 55th Wing Public Affairs DAVIS-MONTHAN AIR FORCE BASE, Ariz. -- The 55th Electronic Combat Group held a change of command at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Arizona, May 27. U.S. Air Force Brig. Gen. Gregory Guillot, 55th Wing commander, presided over the event where U.S. Air Force Col. George Reynolds relinquished command of the wing's 55th ECG to U.S. Air Force Col. Ryan Rogers. The 55th ECG is responsible for five squadrons of more than 700 Airmen to provide combat-ready EC-130H Compass Call aircraft, aircrew and maintainers for worldwide expeditionary deployment in support of unified combatant commanders. "Comprised of an operations support squadron, two operational flying squadrons, a formal training unit, and the aircraft maintenance squadron that keeps the highly specialized EC-130s in the air, the 55th ECG has delivered unparalleled electronic attack to combatant commanders non-stop for over 12 years," Guillot said. "The group's nearly 1,000 Airmen work seamlessly to generate, plan, and fly combat missions, train new maintenance and ops crews, support their local community with donations of time and charitable contributions, and have earned an impressive list of awards in combat, training, and in the professional development classrooms." Its newest commander, Rogers, is no stranger to the wing. "He began in this wing in 1996 as an RC-135 electronic warfare officer and propelled his way to commander of the 38th Reconnaissance Squadron and deputy commander of the 55th Operations Group," Guillot said. "His leadership experience in the operational environment will provide him a foundation to build on during his command of the ECG. Ryan's selection as the new group commander is fitting, given his pedigree as an officer and leader." Upon assuming command, Rogers spoke to the men and women who ensure the 55th ECG accomplish their mission. "You are the national assets that provide crucial combat capability to the combatant commanders and those warfighters in harm's way," Rogers said. "A few focus areas that you'll hear more about in the very near future are: readiness; being advocates for the capability you provide to the fight; and building tomorrow's leaders...I couldn't have hoped to join a finer group of professional Airmen." The outgoing commander, Reynolds, may be leaving Arizona and the group, but he won't be leaving the wing. He will assume command of the 55th WG June 1. "We all congratulate Col Reynolds on his impressive leadership accomplishment, and thank him for unmatched service to our country as he moves to Offutt Air Force Base for the next phase of his career," Guillot said. "As Marty assumes command of the 55th Wing next week, I can attest that he will adapt to the unique and exciting leadership challenges that await him. Acclimating to the constantly changing weather of eastern Nebraska is another lesson he will have to learn on his own."
