Voting season is near Published Jan. 21, 2016 55th Wing Public Affairs OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- Service members and families who have recently arrived at Offutt Air Force Base are reminded that mail-in Nebraska voter registration must be completed by the third Friday before an election, while the deadline for registering at the local County Clerk/Election Commissioner's office is 6 p.m. on the second Friday preceding an election. The nearest election date for Nebraska voters is the Nebraska Democratic Caucus on March 5, 2016, followed by the statewide primary election day May 10, 2016. Those who are or will be over the age of 18 by the election will be allowed to register to vote, by mail or in person. You can register in person at the local County Clerk/Election Commissioner's office during normal business hours, or at the Department of Motor Vehicles while applying for or renewing a driver's license. Mail-in applicable forms can be found at http://www.sos.ne.gov/elec/pdf/vr.pdf. It is also possible to register through the state Department of Health and Human Services and State Department of Education while applying for, reviewing or changing address in connection with public programs. Service members and families can also register for absentee voting through the Federal Post Card Application using the FPCA online assistant at fvap.gov/military-voter/registration-ballots, or fill out the PDF fvap.gov/uploads/FVAP/Forms/fpca2013.pdf.
