A goal is something people strive to meet. In the case of this year's Air Force Assistance Fund drive, Offutt not only met its goal, it exceeded it.

Offutt's campaign goal for 2010 was $108,375. Team Offutt members actually raised $119,552; 110 percent of the goal.

"Not only did Team Offutt exceed the goal, we had an astounding 42 percent of active-duty members participate," said Master Sgt. Tomeika Elmore, one of two installation project officers. To put that achievement in perspective, it compares with a 9.2 percent participation rate for Air Combat Command and a 14.5 percent rate for the Air Force overall.

The success of this year's campaign, which officially ended here April 16, lies in large part with organization key workers, said Sergeant Elmore.

"Eight groups or units exceeded their goal, most over 150 percent," Sergeant Elmore said adding "the 55th Wing staff and 20th Intelligence Squadron actually collected over 200 percent of their goal. How awesome is that?"

The AFAF campaign, in its 37th year, is the Air Force's only annual charity drive designed to support the Air Force family - military members, retirees and their loved ones - through four helping organizations.

Approximately 95 cents of every dollar donated through AFAF goes to the Air Force Enlisted Village, the Air Force Village Foundation, the Air Force Aid Society or the Gen. and Mrs. Curtis E. Lemay Foundation, according to Master Sgt. Michael Bartling, the second installation project officer here.

"Leading this year's AFAF campaign has been a very rewarding experience for me," said Sergeant Elmore. "On behalf of all four charitable organizations and most importantly the Airmen and their families that will directly benefit from your campaign contributions, thank you."
