Patrons of the 55th Force Support Squadron's Military Personnel Section have a new avenue to schedule services with a newly adopted online appointment system.

The website went online the afternoon of Jan. 25, said 2nd Lt. Kelly Hiser, officer in charge of the MPS. Within minutes, there were more than 12 appointments scheduled. Less than a week later, more than 50 appointments have been made with the newly-adopted system.

"The online system has completely refreshed how we do business here in the customer service ID card section," said Lieutenant Hiser. "Say goodbye to the days of calling in and hoping to get through or get a call back to make an appointment."

Appointments can be made for ID cards, DEERS or RAPIDS updates, Servicemember's Group Life Insurance or other personnel actions for active-duty members, reservist, National Guardsmen, retirees and dependants.

The appointment scheduler is owned by the U.S. Navy, but operated by local Air Force personnel. The MPS personnel here maintain complete control of the information available through their site. Instructions are posted on the site and include office hours and location, what documents to bring to your appointment, and requirements for services.

"It'll be great to have," said Airman 1st Class Corey Moody, a customer service technician with the MPS. "As we start using it more, we can go in and iron out any kinks by ourselves."

Lieutenant Hiser does warn that appointments fill up fast. However, walk-in services are still available for emergency situations, she said.

The first appointment scheduled online was held Jan. 26 by Capt. Craig Piper, from the 45th Reconnaissance Squadron. Using the old system, Captain Piper said he still had to wait for service 30 minutes past his appointment. For this appointment, he was seen exactly on time.

"The system is simple to use," said Lieutenant Hiser. "Get on there and try it!"
