Job fair prepares Team Offutt for post-military careers Published March 28, 2012 By Senior Airman Peter R.O. Danielson 55th Wing Public Affairs OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- When a person's time with Team Offutt begins to draw to a close, it always helps to have a plan for life after Department of Defense separation. To ensure all active-duty, DOD civilians, veterans, retirees, guardsmen, reservists and family members have a leg up in the post-military world, the Airman & Family Readiness Center and the Nebraska Department of Labor have teamed up to hold a job fair April 5, 10 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at the Lied Activity Center. "We care about our military and military community," said Julie Noe, AFRC community readiness consultant. "We want to help them in whatever way we can to ensure they transition as smoothly as possible." An estimated 600 participants will be able to talk to more than 100 employers sending representatives to the job fair. "We've been getting more each day," said Noe. "There's a great variety of employers, with jobs that range from entry-level positions to executive, blue collar to white collar." In addition to organizing the job fair, the AFRC will host a "How To" Career Fair March 27, 2 - 2:30 p.m. and 2:30 - 3 p.m. with resume critiquing from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. "This is a great chance to teach prospective employees to put their best foot forward for so many employers," Noe said. A list of the employers is available on the Offutt AFRC website. More information on the job or career fairs can be found by calling the Airman & Family Readiness Center at (402) 294-4329.
