The 2012 Air Force Assistance Fund just completed its annual campaign and Team Offutt came through with flying colors.

To date, Team Offutt had 1,307 donors contributing $137,764.59 to AFAF, 124% of the base's overall goal of $110,816.

"What an awesome job by everyone at Team Offutt," said Brig. Gen. Don Bacon, 55th Wing commander. "The AFAF is a unique charitable organization committed to serving our Air Force and so I'm proud and honored that our base has stepped up to help them."

The AFAF was established as an annual fundraiser for charitable organizations that directly support Air Force families in need. This includes active duty members, retirees, reservists, guard and their dependents, including surviving spouses.

Leading the way for Team Offutt was the 20th Intelligence Squadron, who hit 278% of their goal, the 55th Wing staff collected 213% of their goal and U.S. Strategic Command collected 201% of their goal.

"These goals are based off unit population and a pre-calculated goal potential based off the active duty population of that unit," said Senior Master Sgt. Phillip Fischer, 45th Reconnaissance Squadron superintendent and Offutt's AFAF project officer. "I couldn't have been more pleased with how this has turned out."

In addition to these numbers, the Air Force as a whole had had a record-breaking AFAF campaign as well. For the first time ever they have hit the $7.6 million, collecting 120.5% of their goal.

"The AFAF does great things for our Airmen," Bacon said, "and so to see this kind of support is phenomenal."

Currently, Offutt is number two within the Air Combat Command in percentage of goal collected and number three in ACC for number of donors.
