Colonel Sarah M. Evans

Col. Sarah M. Evans is the Commander and Medical Treatment Facility Director, 55th Medical Group, 55th Wing, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. She is responsible for a four-squadron, 612-person health care delivery system, providing care to more than 51,000 Department of Defense beneficiaries. She oversees the post-graduate education and training of more than 150 medical and dental personnel annually, to include the 55th Medical Group Family Medicine Residency and Dental Residency Programs. Additionally, she serves as the principal medical advisor to the 55th Wing Commander and is responsible for providing comprehensive health services to maintain the highest degree of readiness in support of contingency war mobilization and Homeland Defense plans for Offutt Air Force Base, 50 associate units, U.S. Strategic Command, the 95th Air Base Wing and the 557th Weather Wing.

Col Evans was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. She entered active duty in 1985 when she enlisted in the United States Army as a combat medic. After serving nine years in the Army, she transitioned to the Army Reserves during under-graduate school. In 2000, she received a direct commission into the Air Force Nurse Corps (NC). She has held a variety of positions within the military service and NC career field, including Flight Nurse, Flight Commander, AMC CAG Staff Officer, Junior Executive Nurse Fellow, and Chief for Stakeholder Engagement with the Defense Health Agency. Col Evans has deployed in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, and Inherent Resolve. Prior to her current assignment, Col Evans served as the Commander and Medical Treatment Facility Director, 82d Medical Group, Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas.
