Coming off the holiday season, some Team Offutt members are looking for ways to shake off some of that holiday cheer.

The Offutt Health Promotion Office and the fitness center will begin their annual eight-week Body Composition Improvement Challenge the first week of January.

“The challenge this year is going to be easier than ever,” said Roger Nelson, 55th Medical Group health promotion director. “There are no class commitments or resignation necessary; participating is very simple.”

Those interested in competing must come to the Offutt Field House between Jan. 3 – 6, 2023, to conduct their initial three-minute assessment. The program is free to all active duty, retirees, Department of Defense civilians, contractors and spouses of Team Offutt members, and will provide participants with knowledge that will help with sleep habits, diets and exercise.

“When individuals conduct their initial body composition assessment, not only will they know how many pounds of muscle and fat they have on their body, but they will also be provided with an informational packet that informs them of anything and everything that is associated with helping a person improve their composition,” Nelson said.

At the end of the eight weeks, competitors will return to the field house for their final assessment. All competitors can receive free t-shirts, and the top five most improved will receive the following prizes:

  • 1st place - $250
  • 2nd place - $100
  • 3rd place - $75
  • 4th place - $50
  • 5th place - $25
