  • Offutt’s flood brings out the best

    At 11 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019, the 55th Wing leadership team met to discuss what needed to be accomplished to protect assets and facilities from possible flood waters that were creeping towards the installation. Using lessons learned from the 2011 flood, they knew that if the levy was breached significant flooding would occur to the southeastern side of the base.
  • Offutt’s pavement team serve as unsung heroes

    Offutt’s pavement team has been working tirelessly since November keeping snow off the roads, patching potholes and a myriad of other duties to ensure the mission continues. And with a winter that included more than 50 inches of snow, they were not lacking for opportunities to excel. “We had the eleventh most snowfall in history here this past winter,” said Richard Durr, 55th Civil Engineering Squadron equipment operator supervisor, “so we have been working a lot of weekends.” In fact, the pavement team has only had three weekends off since November.
  • Offutt flood recovery operations continue

    Offutt Air Force Base continues recovery operations following flooding of the base that began March 15, 2019.The water, which at one point covered one-third of the base, has receded significantly and the Emergency Operations Center was re-designated as the Recovery Operations Center.Inside the center are primary helping agency representatives
  • 2019 Defenders of Freedom Air & Space Show Cancelled

    The 2019 Defenders of Freedom Open House and Air Show has been cancelled. While the 55th Wing and our partner units are fully mission-capable, the recent flooding event affecting much of Nebraska has made hosting this year’s annual event untenable.
