Grandfather’s World War II legacy continued by pilot grandson
This is a map of the prisoner of war camp where 2nd Lt. Harry Burdette, 379th Bombardment B-17 Flying Fortress pilot,was held after being shot down over Nazi Germany. Burdetter was the grandfather of Capt. Shawn, an RC-135 Rivet Joint pilot from the 55th Wing at Offutt AFB, Nebraska and flying for the 763rd Expeditionary Reconnaisance Squadron.
