OPERATION: Unchained
U.S. Air Force Tech. Sgt. Scott Bettencourt, a pharmacy flight chief with the 55th Medical Support Squadron, poses with a certificate he received from Jamal Jung Kunwar, chief conservation of Chitwan National Park, Nepal, after spending two weeks building an elephant corral on Aug. 26, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb. The corrals are replacing the chains used by elephant handlers to keep their working elephants in place. Corrals have been proven to improve the health and demeanor of the elephants and are being widely adopted by working elephant handlers throughout the world.
