USSTRATCOM shield

Gen. Kevin Chilton, commander of United States Strategic Command, unveiled the new USSTRATCOM shield inlaid at the command building’s entrance April 24. The general compared the new shield to the existing Strategic Air Command patch on the floor here, saying, “When people walk into the Strategic Command building I wan them to appreciate our heritage, but I also want then to honor and understand the importance of the mission set we have now, which is tremendously larger than it was in the day of SAC.” He was joined at the ceremony by the USSTRATCOM vice commander, Vice Adm. Carl Mauney, and the command’s senior enlisted leader, Fleet Master Chief William Nissen along with the eight USSTRATCOM Joint Funcional Component commanders or their representatives.
