High winds and soggy ground contributed to the toppling of eight trees, some as tall as 60 feet, at Offutt May 22 and 23. According to the 55th Operations Support Squadron Weather Flight, winds May 22 peaked at 49 knots, or 56, mph, and May 23 at 63 knots, or 72 mph. Winds typically associated with a category 1 hurricane are 74 mph. In addition to the high winds, Offutt accumulated about 3.5 nches of rain May 23 through 27.
