OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - First Lt.  Michael Hoerber, Heartland of America Band commander, conducts a band rehearsal in Bldg. 123 Nov. 24. The HOAB, assigned to Air Combat Command, was recently awarded the 2009 Colonel George S. Howard Citation of Musical Excellence for Military Concert Bands. The international award is the highest honor any military concert band can receive.  Performing a broad range of musical styles ranging from classic to contemporary, jazz to country and pop to rock, the various components of the band perform more than 450 concerts annually, touring extensively throughout a 680,000 square mile, eight-state area.
