ILS switch

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - During a special ceremony June 21, 55th Communications Group Commander Col. Dennis Lisherness (right) threw a symbolic switch to signify the commissioning of the new Instrument Landing System. Moments earlier, 55th Operations Group Commander Col. John Hansen threw another switch to turn off the outdated Precision Approach Radar system. Offutt has used the PAR for the last 14 years, but growing rapair costs and manpower requirements made the outdated system ineffective. U.S. Air Force photo by Charles Haymond
