ALS Volunteers

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - members of the James M. McCoy Airman Leadership School class 10-G here volunteered at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Sarpy Post in Papillion, Neb. Aug. 21. Fifteen class members arrived at VFW Post 9675 at 7 a.m. to paint the building's exterior. The post's membership consists of many elderly veterans who served in WWII, the Korean War and the Vietnam War who are unable to climb ladders or haul heavy material. "I don't know what surprised me more," said VFW Post 9675 Commander, retired Lt. Col. Chris Beaty, "the fact that 15 people showed up [so early] on their day off, or the enthusiasm thay had and how hard they worked." Within four hours, the post was prepped, painted and looking brand-new. (Courtesy photo)
