The 55th Maintenance Group and the 595th Command and Control Group held their 2018 Maintenance Professionals of the Year ceremonies Nov. 9 and 16, respectively at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska.

The event recognizes the achievements of top performers from the maintenance career field who support and enable the mission.

“The MPOY is a special time for us to recognize our [maintenance] professionals who have made sustained exceptional positive contributions during the year,” said Col. Michael T. Hammond, 55th MXG commander. “It is solely based on direct efforts in support of our flying hour program, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance, and Electronic Combat Group mission sets and our collective readiness.”

In the 595th C2G, each flight nominates Airmen to include its geographically separated members at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. All winners from the 595th C2G move on to compete within 8th Air Force.

As for the 55th MXG, only winners of the Leo Marquez award, Thomas Barnes crew chief of the year award, General Lew Allen Jr. and Maintenance Management award move on to the numbered Air Force and MAJCOM.

“I am extremely proud of each and every award winner and the teams that they represent,” said U.S. Air Force Chief Master Sgt. Leonard Acosta, 595th C2G chief enlisted manager. “They have overcome some significant challenges and persevered a severe manpower shortage with flying colors.”
