Make Offutt Better hosted a kick-off event Aug. 19 in the Bennie Davis Maintenance Facility as part of an initiative designed to promote social interaction among members of Team Offutt.

MOB is comprised of a variety of social clubs reflecting the wide array of interests and hobbies of the base populace.

Lining the dock were informational booths displaying various types of clubs offered across Offutt. Included were booths for Jeep enthusiasts, the enlisted and officer’s spouses clubs, the Offutt Humanist Group, the Offutt Marauder’s hockey team, a geocaching club and a gaming club.

From displaced Airmen arriving to their first duty station, to a spouse isolated by a temporary duty assignment or deployment, MOB clubs provide social interaction and support.

“It will get you out to meet other people from across the base,” said Staff Sgt. Corrine Hoffschneider, 55th Operations Support Squadron air traffic control watch supervisor. “Say you want to play hacky sack – whatever it is – any club is welcome here and this initiative will help connect people who didn’t already have those connections.”

The MOB Facebook site, also referred to as the “Club Hub,” is the one-stop-shop to view all the current club options.  Members of the Offutt community are encouraged to join or create a club.

“Make Offutt Better is an important initiative because it creates community not only among Airman, but among our civilians and family members as well,” said Chief Master Sgt. Michael Morris, 55th Wing command chief. “If you have that sense of community that MOB provides, you work harder, you feel better, and you get the mission done. People are our number one priority and I’m excited to see this opportunity evolve into something great.”

Innovative Airmen have been forming clubs prior to the adoption of MOB, a program that mirrors the “Make It Better” initiative out of Seymour Johnson AFB, N.C., but they can now increase visibility and awareness by having a central hub.

The ever-growing spectrum of clubs, reflecting the diverse populations of Team Offutt, continues to grow and connect people.  The common tether -- a sense of community.
