Annual Combined Federal Campaign around the corner

The 52nd Combined Federal Campaign officially kicks off with an event at the Bellevue Public Schools Lied Activity Center Sept. 16.

The theme for this year campaign is, "Serving our Country. Supporting our Community."

U.S. Army Maj. Gen. John Uberti, U.S. Strategic Command chief of staff, is this year's chair of the annual fundraising drive that encourages all federal civilians and military members to donate to local, national and international non-profit organizations.

"The CFC provides an opportunity for all civilian federal employees and our service members to support charitable organizations that provide services to those in need here in the United States and around the world," he said.

The campaign was established by President John F. Kennedy in 1961 and is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign.

"The CFC supports an extremely diverse variety of causes, providing an opportunity for anyone looking to make the world a better place," Uberti said. "I encourage everyone to get involved and help us make a difference."

Each unit's designated CFC representative will be available to provide potential donors with a CFC newspaper, including a list of eligible charities and a pledge form.

Donors have a choice in methods of payment, including cash, check or payroll deduction, and between making a one-time payment or spread their contribution throughout one year.

"The CFC provides each individual donor the flexibility to choose which organizations they wish to support," Uberti said. "Options range from battling hunger and poverty, supporting wounded warriors, or preserving the world's wildlife."

Donations can also be made online at www.heartofthemidlandscfc.org.
