The 55th Wing was awarded the Double Platinum Award of Honor with Distinction by the National Safety Council Greater Omaha Chapter on May 29 during the National Safety Council Annual Awards Luncheon in La Vista, Nebraska.

"It is very rewarding to be recognized for excellence in your profession," said Col. Gregory Guillot, 55th Wing commander. "What makes this award particularly special to the wing is we earned it for operating the right way - by being compliant and without cutting corners. In other words, we earned it by putting the safety of our Airmen first."

The National Safety Council Nebraska recognizes and honors companies that have sustained "superior" safety and health programs, results and achievements for more than twenty consecutive years by presenting them, the Award of Honor Double Platinum. These companies represent the foundation on which the safety and health awards program is based and set the benchmark of success. There are currently only five companies in Nebraska that have attained this award.

"This award is just the latest feather in the cap for the 55th Wing and Team Offutt as they have been recognized by the National Safety Council for 23 consecutive years with an award for superior achievement in injury prevention and safety performance," said Maj. Jeffrey Hoger, 55th Wing Safety chief.

The safety office accepted the award on behalf of the 55th Wing on May 29 at the Embassy Suites La Vista Conference Center.
