OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- While aerial performers captivated crowds overhead, a dedicated team of over 1,500 military and civilian volunteers worked on the ground to execute the Defenders of Freedom Air & Space Show 2026 at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, Aug. 8-9.
The logistics of the two-day event required more than a year of planning and coordination across multiple base and community organizations.
On the flightline, Team Offutt personnel from agencies all over the installation included security forces, vehicle operations, transient alert and maintenance worked together to manage traffic flow, coordinate ground operations and ensure spectator safety.
Additionally, dozens of medical professionals from the 55th Medical Group and local community partners remained on standby to provide essential medical aid on the ramp.
