OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- A combination of military and civilian aerial and ground performers showcased their capabilities during the Defenders of Freedom Air and Space Show 2026 at Offutt Air Force Base, Aug. 8-9.
Structured around the theme of “presenting the past, present and future of flight,” the two-day event offered attendees a direct look at the evolution of aviation.
Representing the past, the lineup featured historical acts, including a vintage MiG-17 and the co-headlining Tora! Tora! Tora! historical reenactment.
The present era of aviation was highlighted by civilian aerobatic pilot Kevin Coleman alongside the co-headlining F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team. Additionally, an F-35A Lightning II and F-5 Tiger II flew together in a heritage flight formation, bridging modern and legacy airpower.
Representing the future force, U.S. Air Force Academy cadets from the Wings of Blue demonstration team executed precision aerial maneuvers.
