OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- More than 40 static aircraft and displays were featured at the Defenders of Freedom Air & Space Show 2026 that took place at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska, Aug. 8-9.
Spectators were able to visit aircrews and aircraft that are long retired as well as the latest and greatest the U.S. Air Force has to offer.
A P-51 Mustang, know as "Gunfighter," is a airframe long retired and earned renown during it's use in WWII, was on display and took to the sky for demonstrations.
The EC-130 Compass Call made its last air show appearance as it is scheduled to retire this year on the Air Force's birthday, Sept. 18.
Also included were active aircraft such as: two fifth-generation fighters, both F-35 Lightning II; an aircraft with an undefeated air-to-air combat record, F-15E Strike Eagle; the Air Force's largest aircraft, C-5 Super Galaxy; and the Air Force's newest aircraft, EA-37B Compass Call.
