OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- The North Carolina State Wolfpack baseball team visited Team Offutt on June 14, as a part of the Men’s College World Series festivities.
The Wolfpack is one of the eight teams looking to win the CWS championship at the Charles Schwab Field in Omaha. Traditionally, Offutt has hosted a CWS team to visit for more than twenty years.
“It is important to have the team here because it shows the deep ties that we have with the community of Omaha and the pride the whole region has because of the college world series,” said Col. Aaron Gray, 55th Wing deputy commander.
The Wolfpack were able to eat lunch inside the Bennie Davis Maintenance Facility Dock 1, tour a RC-135 Rivet Joint aircraft, spray water out of a 55th Civil Engineers Squadron fire truck and 55th Security Force Squadron members briefed the team on some of the capabilities the squadron can use to protect the base while also conducting a military working dog skills demonstration.
To make it to the CWS, the Wolfpack beat the Georgia Bulldogs in the NCAA baseball Athens Super Regional on June 10.
