OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- The Military Police Force known as the “Recon Raiders” which includes members of the 55th Security Forces Squadron and Navy will host local law enforcement agencies in a ceremony to kick off Police Week celebrations at Offutt Air Force Base at 9 am May 13, 2024.

The national observance for Police Week this year is May 12 through May 18. Offutt will begin its Police week with an opening ceremony at 9 am May 13. Various events are planned throughout the week to honor law enforcement members, the first being a 24-hour flag run around the Offutt parade grounds starting at 10 am following the opening ceremony. Other events include a golf tournament, a static display with other civilian law enforcement agencies, and a Raiders Challenge obstacle course.
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy signed a proclamation that designated May 15 as Peace Officers Memorial Day and the concurrent week as Police Week to honor the sacrifices of those who protect and serve our communities.
