OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - The 155th Air Refueling Wing and the 55th Wing will co-host the Guardians of Freedom Air Show at the Lincoln Airport Aug. 26-27, 2023.

The air show is expected to draw nearly 150,000 attendees and will feature the U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Team, the Blue Angels.

“This is going to be a great air show with something for everyone,” said Maj. Bryce Neil, Guardians of Freedom Air Show deputy director. “It’s been great to work so closely with our guard teammates and I hope we see a lot of Team Offutt members in Lincoln.”

There has not been an air show in the local area since the 55th Wing hosted the Defenders of Freedom Air and Space Show in 2018. The show was cancelled due to the flood in 2019, and then the COVID-19 pandemic and the runway replacement project stopped any plans in 2020, 2021 and 2022.

“Co-hosting with the 155th ARW is a great opportunity for us to get some experience in what goes on behind the scenes to make a successful show,” Neil said. “There is a lot of work involved with pulling one of these off.”

Attendees can expect to see other performers like the U.S. Marine Corps C-130J Super Hercules nicknamed “Fat Albert,” F-16C Viper Demo Team, U.S. Air Force Academy, Wings of Blue parachute team and The Horsemen Aerobatic team, to name a few.

“If you love air power, you’re going to want to be there,” Neil said.
