Matthew Miller 55th Wing Public Affairs OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- The U.S. Navy's Blue Angels and the U.S. Army's Golden Knights will headline Offutt's annual 2007 "Defenders of Freedom" Air Show May 5 and 6.Free to the public, the Air Show took a one-year break last year while the runway was closed for periodic repair work. "I'm pleased to once again invite the public to see first hand how the men and women of Offutt and the Air Force fly and fight," said Brig. Gen. Jonathan George, 55th Wing commander. "The 55th Wing plays a vital and continuous role in the Global War on Terror, and our Airmen cannot accomplish their mission without the support of the local community," General George said. "Opening our gates is just one way of saying thanks." "A big advantage to this year's Air Show is that we also will showcase two spectacular military teams in the Blue Angels and Golden Knights," said General George. "Hosting these elite teams will give spectators a chance to see world premier aerial demonstration teams that offer spectacular, high-energy demonstrations of military capability and precision." In the past, Offutt's Air Show has included military and civilian aerial acts, static displays and booths showcasing military history and capabilities, and this year will be no exception. "We're working hard to bring additional top-notch acts to Offutt, making the 2007 show a must see," said Maj. Dennis Shook, Air Show director.
