55th MXG welcomes new commander

OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. --  Airmen in the 55th Maintenance Group welcomed their new commander, Col. Terry Parsons, June 27 during a change of command ceremony at the Bennie Davis Maintenance Facility here. 

Colonel Parsons assumed command of the group from Col. Gary Elliott, who had led the group since June 8, 2005.

Colonel Elliott bid farewell to the MXG Airmen before he retired after serving 29 years as an officer in the U. S. Air Force.

Colonel Parsons comes to Offutt from Robbins AFB, Ga. where he served as commander of the 559th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron, at Warner Robbins Air Logistics Center. Colonel Parsons was responsible for leading and directing 520 civilian, military and contractor personnel who provided worldwide support through structural repair, system overhaul and aircraft modifications for the C-5 fleet.

Colonel Parsons graduated from South Dakota State University in 1985, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, and received a commission as a second lieutenant in the U. S. Air Force.

Colonel Parsons has earned a Bronze Star Medal, a Meritorious Service Medal with one oak leaf cluster, an Air Force Commendation Medal with one oak leaf cluster and and Air Force Achievement Medal with one oak leaf cluster.
