Compass Call unit departs 386th AEW as a result of drawdown in Iraq
SOUTHWEST ASIA - Maintenance troops and aircrew members prepare a U.S. Air Force EC-130H for its final departure from an undisclosed air base here Aug. 29, 2010. The aircraft's unit, the 43rd Expeditionary Electronic Combat Sqaudron, is being reassigned to another base in the U.S. Central Command area of responsibility becuase of the responsible drawdown of forces in Iraq. The EC-130H, known as the Compass Call, provides U.S. forces with the ability to jam enemy communications. The 43rd EECS has operated from the 386th Air Expeditionary Wing for the past 6 1/2 years, logging more than 23,000 combat hours of flight time in direct support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
