For anyone who has ever wanted to hurl something at his or her supervisor, good news is on the horizon.

Offutt will host a free dodgeball tournament at the field house here March 19 at 10 a.m. The tournament will feature teams of up to 10 people, who will try to throw seven-inch rubber balls as hard and as fast as they can at the opposition.

"Imagine a chance to hit your coworker," said Tech. Sgt. Michael L. Correll, fitness center section chief with the 55th Force Support Squadron.

Sergeant Correll also said that fitness center staff will officiate the tournament and prizes will be awarded based on participation numbers.

According to tournament rules, each game will last a maximum of seven minutes and teams must have at least five people, with at least two female players to start a match. Otherwise, that team will forfeit. Teams that win the best of five games will advance to the next round.

The team that knocks out every member of the opposing team or has the most team members actively playing at the end of regulation will win.

Senior Airman Cameron D. Smith, a software quality assurance analyst with the 55th Strategic Communications Squadron, is excited about the upcoming tournament.

"I love playing dodgeball," Airman Smith said.

Dodgeball promotes team work and allows individuals to contribute to victory in a unique way, he said. Plus, it fuses luck with a little bit of skill, he added.

Airman Smith is busy recruiting members for his team, which he refers to as elite. So far the team has seven members ranging in rank from senior airman to captain.

As he adds to his team's numbers, Airman Smith cautions anyone who dares challenge his squad in the tournament.

"I don't have words to express the devastation we will bear down on any (team) that faces us," he said.

Anyone interested in proving Airman Smith wrong or signing up to play in the tournament and have some fun must register by March 17.
