Wing's mission, goals highlighted in 2012 Flight Plan Published Dec. 28, 2011 By Ryan Hansen 55th Wing Public Affairs OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- With 2011 now in the rearview mirror, the 55th Wing is setting their sights on a successful 2012. With that mind, Brig. Gen. Don Bacon, 55th Wing Commander, released the 55th Wing's Flight Plan 2012, a comprehensive look at the wing's mission and objectives for the year. "The past year has been one of great accomplishment for the 55th Wing," Bacon said. The wing shaped global policies and postures by providing the president of the United States and combatant commanders unmatched intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance; command and control; electronic attack; and theater missile warning while simultaneously conducting peacetime treaty verification." The plan lays out the commander's leadership approach and thrusts for 2012 as well as his expectations for every Airman within the wing. "2012 promises to present many challenges and opportunities to excel. In order for our mission to succeed we need every Airman to adhere to our core values, be a leader, foster teamwork, and finally, be ready to deploy," Bacon said. The Fightin' Fifty-Fifth amassed more than 14,000 combat hours in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, New Dawn, Odyssey Dawn and Unified Protector. "It is the combat focused professionalism and hard work from everyone that has enabled the wing to shine both deployed downrange and at home during multiple inspections, distinguished visitor visits and community events," Bacon said. "I want to thank each and every one of you for an outstanding 2011 and ask you to maintain that mission focus into 2012." The plan also provides details on the wing's many partners and highlights how everyone plays a role to successfully complete the mission. "Please take the time to review the Flight Plan with the objective of gaining an understanding of how each of us fits into the overarching mission," Bacon said. "I look forward to working with all of you this New Year and thank you again for all that you do." The plan is available here, as well as in hard copy format.
