The 51st Combined Federal Campaign is scheduled to kick off with an event hosted by Maj. Gen. William F. Grimsley, U.S. Strategic Command chief of staff, Sept. 18 at the Bellevue Public Schools Lied Activity Center.

The CFC is an annual fundraising drive that provides an opportunity for federal civilian, postal and military employees to donate to local, national and international non-profit organizations.

The campaign was established by Presidential Executive Order in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy and is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign.

"Contributing to the CFC offers you a unique opportunity to support charitable organizations that make a positive and lasting impact on the lives of people here is the United States and around the world," Grimsley said. "Through your contributions, you can battle hunger, poverty, and disease; support our wounded warriors and their families; or assist those who seek to preserve our world's wildlife and beautiful places. The CFC supports a diverse and extensive variety of good causes and represents a true team effort to make our world a better place - and it all starts with your decision to get involved."

This year Team Offutt plans to raise $287,000 towards the Heart of the Midlands CFC goal of $1.3 million.

Each unit's designated CFC representative, will be available to provide potential donors with a CFC newspaper, including a list of eligible charities, and a pledge form.

Donors have a choice in methods of payment, including cash, check or payroll deduction, and between making a one-time payment or spread their contribution throughout one year.

Donations can also be made online at www.heartofthemidlandscfc.org.

"Your donations, large and small, have made the CFC the most successful workplace charitable campaign in the United States," Grimsley said. "Let's make 2012 a record year, as our federal team improves the quality of life here and across the globe. Remember, when we work together, a little help goes a long way."
