The 55th Wing Chapel Team has been selected as the winner of the 2019 Charles I. Carpenter Large Chapel Team Award.

The award, named for the first chief of the Air Force Chaplain corps, recognizes the chapel team most committed to warfighter readiness, re-blue business practices and restoring chaplain corps readiness.

“This Air Force level award is presented to the team who best exemplifies ‘caring for Airmen more than anyone thinks possible’ through their service, passion and innovation,” said Col. Gavin Marks, 55th Wing commander. “The Chaplain Corps, led by Lt. Col. Chaplain Kevin Humphrey, continues to go above and beyond to ensure our members are taken care of and are always a call away when their presence is needed.”

The Offutt Chapel team was recognized for their response to last year’s natural disaster and the care and services they provided the team throughout the recovery. As well as for their work to ensure readiness at the unit and individual level across the installation.

“From supporting our Warhawks through the devastating flood last March, to standing by our Airmen who are battling tough times, and now looking into innovative ways to reach our Airmen during the COVID-19 pandemic, this team always puts others first and is the definition of world-class,” added Marks.

As the world faces the CoronaVirus pandemic, the Chaplain team here stands ready to support Team Offutt through video chats, phone calls and emergency face-to-face meetings.

“Continue to reach out to them when you may need that support and please extend a congratulations to them for their many outstanding accomplishments and winning this prestigious Air Force Chaplain Corps annual award,” added Marks.
