OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. -- More than a dozen Airmen assigned to the 55th Security Forces Squadron’s National Airborne Operation Center security section are scheduled to host a volunteer fair Feb. 28, 2020, from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Base Exchange here.
The fair will host more than 10 agencies to assist Airmen in finding volunteer opportunities that match their interests.
“Sometimes it gets difficult finding events and volunteer opportunities,” said Airman 1st Class Adnan Sadiku. “With this volunteer fair, it gives Airmen a chance to physically meet with these organizations and determine if they want to commit themselves.”
The flyaway security team seeks to narrow the knowledge gap by bringing opportunities to the Airmen. The section hopes to make this a reoccurring event.
“I’m very proud to see our young Defenders leading an event to support the base and our local communities,” said Master Sgt. Daniel Werner, 55th SFS first sergeant.
“The organizations they have invited to attend have a significant impact on the people around us. It’s great to see our Airmen wanting to highlight these volunteer organizations and encouraging their teammates to get involved.”
This volunteer fair will provide multiple possibilities not only to Airmen but to anyone with base access wishing to get involved. Each organization will have representatives on hand to provide information about their organization and to answer any questions.
There are currently 12 organizations scheduled to participate.
Participation in the event does not constitute official endorsement on behalf of the U.S. Air Force or Department of Defense. The Air Force does not endorse any non-federal government organizations, products, or services.
