CMSgt Christopher R. Joyce is the Command Chief for the 557th Weather Wing, Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska. He serves as the principal advisor to the wing commander on all issues regarding the health, welfare, morale, and effective utilization of more than 1,400 officer, enlisted, and civilian Airmen assigned to 12 squadrons at 19 locations across the globe. The 557th Weather Wing provides centralized weather assessments and services, including climatological and space weather, to the Air Force, Joint Force, and other Department of War activities enabling air and space superiority, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance, rapid global mobility, global strike and command and control in support of all geographic and functional combatant commands
Chief Joyce hails from Apache Junction, Arizona, and entered active-duty service in February 2004. He attended Boom Operator Initial Qualification at Altus AFB, Oklahoma and graduated top of his class receiving the distinguished graduate award. Chief Joyce was an instructor for the formal KC-135R schoolhouse where he led as an Evaluator Boom Operator. Additionally, he led the 92d Operations Group as the Noncommissioned Officer in Charge of group training, preparing crews to execute the wing’s operational plans and deployments supporting operations across the globe. Chief Joyce was initial cadre for the first KC-46 Formal Training Unit at Altus AFB and served as the Senior Enlisted Leader of the 97th Training Squadron, overseeing 2,300 annual students, 32 courses, and three separate Department of War contracts valued at $1.5 billion. Prior to his current position, Chief Joyce served as the Operations Superintendent, 305th Operations Group, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.
Chief Joyce has deployed to Al Dhafra AB, UAE and Al Udeid AB, Qatar, in support of Operations ENDURING and IRAQI FREEDOM amassing 211 combat sorties and more than 1,300 combat hours. He has been stationed at McConnell AFB, Kansas, Altus AFB, Oklahoma, Fairchild AFB, Washington, Altus AFB, Oklahoma and presently at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey.
