Where the rubber hits the runway
OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. - Greg Sanchez, an aircraft mechanic in the 55th Maintenance Squadron isochronal phase inspection dock, places a tire on a universal wheel build up machine to separate the rim from the tire in the wheel and tire shop Oct. 15. In addition to working in the ISO dock in the Bennie Davis Maintenance Facility, the approximately 40 aircraft mechanics assigned also man the wheel and tire back shop when necessary. Each year they process about 400 wheels and tires for the C-135 variants and E-4B aircraft here. U.S. Air Force photo by Charles Haymond
