OFFUTT AIR FORCE BASE, Neb. --

As the temperature begins to rise with each passing day, Team Offutt is one step closer to packing up their lawn chairs and heading to the lake for food, fun, music and prizes.

The Offutt Advisory Council’s annual Offutt Appreciation Day Picnic is scheduled for June 2 at the Base Lake from 11:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m.

The event is completely free and open to all active duty members, Guard and Reserve, Department of Defense civilians and contractors, retirees as well as their families.

“This will be my second OAC Appreciation Day Picnic and based off my experience last year, it’s easy to see just how much the local community supports us,” said Col. Marty Reynolds, 55th Wing commander. “I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the festivities that our neighbors have worked so hard to provide for us.”

There will be live music provided by the Heartland of America Band, free food, drinks and ice cream. There will also be inflatable jump houses, a rock climbing wall, face painting, animals and more.

Throughout the day, multiple prizes will be up for grabs via ongoing trivia.

To culminate the event, a raffle will be drawn and attendees will have the opportunity to win some large giveaways. And for the first time, there will be a separate raffle for E-1 through E-4 servicemembers and their spouses, with prizes including technology and gaming equipment.

“We wanted to do something special for the younger Airmen and their families who just arrived here at Offutt,” said Herman Colvin, OAC member and picnic chairman. “We appreciate the fact that they chose to serve their country and we want to make them feel welcome here in Nebraska.”

Attendees should be reminded that backpacks and coolers are not permitted at the picnic. In addition, pets are not allowed due to possible contamination and allergic reactions.
